We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Peer Specialist to join our team. As a Certified Peer Specialist, you will provide support and guidance to individuals with behavioral health challenges, using your own lived experience to inspire hope and promote recovery. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
Duties:
- Facilitate group sessions focused on topics such as coping skills, relapse prevention, and self-care
- Utilize your personal experience with mental health or addiction recovery to connect with individuals and provide peer support
- Foster a supportive and non-judgmental environment for individuals seeking assistance
- Assist individuals in developing coping skills and strategies for managing their mental health or addiction
- Collaborate with treatment teams to develop individualized care plans
- Provide crisis intervention and support during times of acute distress
- Serve as a mentor and role model for individuals on their recovery journey
- Advocate for clients' rights and access to appropriate services
Requirements:
- Certification as a Peer Specialist or completion of a recognized Peer Specialist training program
- Lived experience with mental health or addiction recovery is required
- Strong knowledge of behavioral health principles and practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to establish rapport and build trusting relationships with clients
- Familiarity with motivational interviewing techniques
- Understanding of crisis management and intervention strategies
- Knowledge of community resources and support services
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality
